John competed in his third straight PGA Professional National Championship in late June. 312 of the country’s top PGA Professionals qualified for this event which gave them the chance to make it to this year’s PGA Championship at Oak Hill in August. After a 36 hole cut, the field was reduced to the top 70 and ties and then the top 20 finishers after 72 holes qualify for the PGA. Unfortunately, John missed the cut by a few shots, but had this to say afterwards…”I played solid both rounds including my practice rounds. My game was good with just a few hiccups, but I just couldn’t get putts to drop. Having to deal with heavy rain during parts of both rounds was definitely disappointing, but that’s the way golf goes. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to try and qualify to get back here for next year. Four straight years would be pretty good”.
